Countess Olenska

This painting is a portrait of the fictional
character Countess Olenska from the novel "Age Of
Innocence". The figure in the background is me. It is
a self-portrait. I identify with the Countess, an
American who lived abroad and married a foreigner,
her attempts at returning to America, her marriage,
family and wanting to just find a place to fit in.
